Occupational Medicine is a discipline of Medicine that deals with the prevention of hazards caused by the working conditions, the protection from risks arising from factors adverse to health in the working environment and the placement and maintenance of the worker in an occupation adapted to his physiological and psychological ability. In this discipline, knowledge of and skills in occupational hygiene, toxicology, epidemiology, clinical medicine, public health and management are applied together to achieve the ultimate goal of promoting and maintaining the highest degree of physical, mental and social well-being of workers in all occupations.
